About the client Our client is a publicly traded defense technology company and a leader in uncrewed aircraft systems. Calance is hiring a Mechanical Engineers to support its team in Simi Valley. About the role You will own mechanical design work for uncrewed aircraft hardware, taking parts and assemblies from concept through release in SolidWorks. This is a hands-on design role for an experienced engineer who can run with a task with minimal supervision. What you'll do - Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks - Manage design data, revisions and releases in SolidWorks EPDM - Design composite structures, including Kevlar and carbon prepreg laminate layups - Run thermal models in the SolidWorks suite to support design decisions - Work independently and drive your designs through to completion Required - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) - 6–10 years of mechanical design experience - High skill level in SolidWorks and EPDM - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred - Design experience with Class 2 UAVs (highly desired) - Composite layup design with Kevlar and carbon prepreg laminates - Thermal modelling using the SolidWorks suiteJob type: Contract
